Cut out the Fabric

With the wrong side of the fabric in a single layer, draw the patterns directly onto the wrong side of the fabric. Make sure to transfer all points and references to the fabric. Cut out the exterior, lining and interfacing. Iron the interfacing on the wrong side of the exterior fabric. Draw and cut the interfacing using a lining pattern. Fuse the interfacing on wrong side of the lining following the manufacture’s guide.

Stitch the Exterior and the Lining

Attach the magnetic snap onto the right side of the lining flap and exterior front piece following the manufacturer’s guide, see Picture 1.

If you would like to add the sewing label, place the label and baste at your desired location, see Picture 2.

Sew around the exterior clutch, back tack on each ends, see Picture 3.

Clip the rounded seam, see Picture 4.

Repeat this process for the lining, see Picture 5.

Pin the exterior flap and lining flap with right sides facing, see Picture 6. Stitch only rounded seam, leave a straight edge unstitched (for turning).

Clip the curved seam. Turn the flap right side out, see Picture 7. Press the flap; topstitch 1/8” away from the curved seam only.

Place the flap onto the back piece of the exterior with exterior sides facing, aligning the raw edge of the exterior clutch and the flap. Pin and baste the flap and the exterior in place, see Picture 8.

Tip: If you would like to make a patched flap version, cut out the 6 pieces of 1 ½” x 3 ¼”. Sew the panels and iron the seam.
Match the lining flap and patched exterior flap with right sides together. Stitch together, using the lining seam allowance. Leave a straight edge unstitched. Cut out the exterior leftover. Turn it right side out. Press and topstitch the flap.

Assemble the Exterior and Lining

Press the exterior and lining seams open. Put the exterior into the lining with right sides together, sandwiching the flap in between the exterior and the lining, see Picture 9.

Pin the opening of the clutch. Sew along the opening of the clutch using a ¼” seam allowance, leave a 3” gap to turn it right side out, see Picture 10

Trim the corner seams, see Picture 11.

Turn the clutch right side out, see Picture 12. Iron the opening of the clutch.

Tuck the lining into the exterior. Topstitch allaround of the opening of the clutch, see Picture 13.

Sew the button to the exterior flap as desired location.
