Simple Coin Pouch Tutorial

Handmade Tutorial: Simple Coin Pouch. I really needed a coin pouch ever since I had the liking to bring out smaller bags, the bags were so small that my huge chunky wallet could not be stuff into it after fitting my camera, namecards holder and specs in. I fit the notes in a small zip compartment in the bag, but it is always a fuss to look for scattered change!

So I decided to make a little coin pouch for me. This will certainly keep the coins in place and makes my life much easier. And as always, being the lazy me, I figured out a really easy way to make a coin pouch.

As you can see in the photos, they are really made up from 3 rectangles only. I used belacu cloth for my backing and cotton flannel for my flaps.

I think the photos do say it all, but for detailed explanation, please read as below ^^

Directions :

1. Take the two longer rectangles and place fabric right side facing right side.

2. Sew along all 3 sides, leaving one of the shorter side free to pull the fabric out.

3. Pull right side fabric out.

4. After having the right side out, pin the shorter free side close.

5. This should be how it look like after you topstitch the top close.

6. Now, put aside the long rectangular and work on the short one. Fold it into half, and sew on both sides.

7. Turn in inside out, and top stitch the 3 corners to secure fabric down.

8. If you are decorating your flap, you should do it now. I had my brad secure onto one side of the fabric only.

9. Now place the flap about 2cm overlapping the body.

10. Sew a rectangle very close to the open end to prevent fraying as seen in photo.

11. Fold the long rectangular into half, you can choose to adjust it a little to your liking.

12. Sew top stitch on both sides of the long rectangular to secure.

13. Use fabric glue to secure velcro opening to the fabric.

14. And we're done! Now make more with different sizes and color combination and have fun!
