Today I made a simple wallet that is really quick and easy to create. It is great as a gift to someone special.
Envelope bags are easy to make, we can make some big and small envelope bags for organizing bills paperwork at home and so on~
1. The prototype of an envelope bag is a square that is made into a bag by folding in the 4 corners. The question is how big a square to fold into how big a bag? First we have to determine the width (a) and height (b) of the envelope bag we need, add the width and height together, add 2 cm (these 2 cm are to allow the folded corners to overlap each other), and divide the total by 1.414 to get the result of the net side length of the square.
2. Don't forget to add the seam allowance when cutting. A bag needs one piece of lining and one piece of surface fabric, and if the fabric is thin, you can add a lining in the center. To give an example I used two layers of burlap and did not add a lining.
3. Trim the corners of the two square pieces of fabric and sew them together, leaving a seam allowance.
4. Turn out the front seam allowance, iron the edges and press a line around it. 5.
5. Next, we need to draw the fold lines on the top. Draw a diagonal line between the two right angles, measure the width of the budget bag in the center, and draw a vertical line at each end as the side fold line of the bag; measure one half of the height of the budget bag down the diagonal line and draw a horizontal line as the bottom fold line of the bag.
6. Fold in the left and right corners along the side edges and position them with a bead pin.
7. and then the bottom corner along the bottom edge of the line folded over the top of the left and right corners, the envelope bag looks like the presentation of it!
8. Finally, we just need to use a needle to stitch
Sew the bottom corner and the left and right corners together.
Envelope bags can have as many fasteners as you want, a piece of string with a clasp like I have, or use a five claw clasp or a four-in-one clasp~
